Telehealth Consults

How Does Telehealth Work?

We’ll connect with you using our practice management software securely over your smartphone, computer, laptop of tablet. Your privacy is important to us so our therapists will be in a private room to ensure our utmost attention. Depending on your device, you can choose where you are take the appointment.

As with an in-clinic consultation, we’ll discuss and assess your symptoms, show you some ways to address your pain or disfunction, and provide a treatment/exercise plan for you.

Once you book a Telehealth appointment, you will receive an email with further details. It is super simple and definitely worth it!

What are the benefits of Telehealth?

You get the face to face aspect of a “traditional” appointment but Telehealth overcomes the barriers of social distancing.

If you’re injured or had a recent surgery, you still need physiotherapy! Telehealth solves this problem. We meet online, providing you the same standard of care as you’d receive in your clinic. We will guide you on the best way to ensure your body can return to performing for you as soon as possible. As we have mentioned several times on our blogs and social media, rest can often prolong painful states, delay healing and result in worse rehabilitation outcomes!

Getting you back to your best is performed in the same way an in-clinic session would. This starts with a thorough assessment, delivery of exercise therapy and most importantly plan and monitor your rehabilitation process.

Is Telehealth a Response to COVID-19?

Yes and no. Telehealth has been here for a while but it’s taken the coronavirus to make the uptake and availability widespread. The need to stay home to avoid spreading the virus has accelerated the uptake of Telehealth as the government has amended the Medicare benefits schedule to make it more widely available.

Rest assured, Telehealth is used throughout healthcare. For example, pacemakers can send information about a heart to the cardiologist or a CPAP machine can send data about overnight oxygen levels to the respiratory specialist. Many medical devices have a built-in monitoring capacity, transmitting health data to doctors all the time and guiding their treatment decisions. Whilst hands on treatments can be important for some conditions, often the pivotal intervention we can provide as physio’s is information!
Now is the ideal time to try a telehealth consultation.
